SMA specializes in delivering technology solutions to K-12, University and College institutions.  We have provided products, services and information systems planning to support their unique requirements. 

CLIENT ISSUE
A large University needed to implement a technology support center for its students and faculty.  The University needed to implement the solution in a short time period (within 3 weeks of the start of a fall semester).  In addition, their technical support staff wanted to receive and close call tickets on Palm devices, which posed unique challenges.

SOLUTION
SMA proposed the HEAT system because of its popularity in the education marketplace and its ease of implementation.  In addition, HEAT has great capabilities for the "roaming" technician which include HEAT in a Web browser (iHEAT) and Palm device integration through standard email packages.  The University has since implemented  knowledge management integration with their Web site and HEAT Self Service for their customers.

HEAT was a great success.  The system was installed and customized within the required timeframe, and this University has taken full ownership of the system (which has reduced its dependence on consultants and the resulting costs associated with ongoing support.
